About Us

The Smythyreens are a 4 piece covers band from Porthcawl, South Wales.

Having formed 5 years ago (and played together in previous bands) and after various personnel changes, we have settled with the current line-up. We play material from Indy, Alt-country & Southern Rock - from Tom Petty & Neil Young to REM & The Lemonheads.
Our sound is obviously guitar oriented but has been described as pretty clean & clear. Recently we have recorded and published original material as our alter-egos, The South Road. We are regularly gigging around South Wales and are available for booking enquiries as The Smythyreens or The South Road.
